Blogging, Social Media

Twitter, that indescribably addictive, microblogging-meets-instant-messaging service has introduced me to several new friends. The latest is named Annie, and her blog is called Banannie. In an exchange of tweets this week, we decided to designate next Friday, April 20, as a day dedicated to finding new friends in our favorite social networks.

What’s this special day called? Friendapalooza, of course!

The idea is to make at least 10 new friends that day on whatever social networking sites you prefer: Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, LinkedIn, Ning, MySpace, etc. How do you find new friends? Check out the profiles of the friends of your current friends. Chances are you’ll find people with the same interests. Then reach out and introduce yourself.

My goal is to make 10 new friends on Twitter and 10 on Facebook. What is your goal for Friendapalooza? Let me know in the comments — and then check back next Friday and let me know how much fun you had making new friends.

Connie, the site looks great! I’m going to take your advice and seek out new connections. I managed to find 80 new friends in a month at Twitter, a good start, right?

    Thanks, Annie!

Wow — 80 new friends at Twitter is a great start! I’ve met some interesting people there — like you. I might never have come across your blog if Chris Brogan hadn’t pointed to you on Twitter.

Great to make the connection with you, and to join you in promoting Friendapalooza.

All of the above, Jim! :-)

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you through Twitter, e-mails and blog posts. You’ve done some super blogging and vlogging recently, and it’s my pleasure to point people in your direction.

Besides, you’re buying coffee in Crawford, so I have to be nice. Just kidding!
