
After a successful Navy career including tours in Japan and the Netherlands, Sheila Scarborough launched a new career as a full-time freelance writer specializing in travel, NHRA drag racing and Web 2.0/social media.
A certified Master Training Specialist and former Associate Professor of Naval Science at the University of Florida, Sheila is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker and teacher.
She has written for National Geographic Traveler, Texas Highways, Transitions Abroad, the Dallas Morning News, and the San Antonio Express-News. Her Family Travel blog hosted on BootsnAll was one of three “Best Travel Blogs” in Real Simple magazine, a “Best of the net” in the UK’s Guardian newspaper and one of the “world’s best travel blogs” in the UK’s Telegraph. She is also one of three authors on the Perceptive Travel blog.
Her blog about tourism and the social Web, Sheila’s Guide to the Good Stuff, supports her work consulting about tourism and social media at Tourism Currents, a new learning community set to launch in September 2009.
Since the 2006 Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida, she has covered drag racing for Fast Machines and Edmunds.com. Sheila is active in Social Media Club and is an instructor for Every Dot Connects workshops.
